Community Heroes Announced - Airlie Day Spa

We had so many nominations and votes and so many deserving people for our Community Heroes award, that we had to close round one already! AND we couldn’t just pick one hero, so, instead, we picked two!


Our first local hero as nominated and voted by the Whitsunday community is 'Kerry Read-Zorzi!' A local foster mum who has fostered over 100 beautiful children in their time of need... Kerry has given of herself endlessly and tirelessly for her son, through many, many hospital visits from Townsville to Brisbane.
Kerry was nominated by her sister Jodie Read who said Kerrys life “has been so full-on that I used to get tired just watching her”

Our other first local hero is 'Maz McDougall!', she works tirelessly in the local community with various charity events as well as helping absolutely anyone in need. “She has been behind the scenes many things that people don't even realize. What she does to help others is straight from her Great Big Heart” said Maria Cavanagh
Maz was originally nominated by Amy Fowler who said “this lady is AMAZING!!!! always out to help anyone and everyone, fundraising, event organizing, she does it all and deserves this more than any other person i know in the Whitsunday Shire!!!!!”

Throw your support behind your local heroes and let them know they are appreciated. There are some amazing people in the Whitsundays and they should be recognized!
Nominations for round two are open now.

The rules are simple, the winner must come from the Whitsunday region, including Bowen, Proserpine, Airlie & all the great bits in between. Think of people who help you in everyday life including Nurses, Teachers, Emergency services personnel, Charity Workers & Coaches etc.”
