waxing aftercare
Maintenance of your skin whilst waxing is vital. As hair becomes softer and finer occasionally the hairs are trapped inside the follicle turning into ingrown hairs. Prevention of these is easy... you need to exfoliate 2 - 3 x wk. We suggest Mancine Salt Scrubs or Thalgo Descomask Scrub.
If ingrown hairs persist, or even as a preventative measure, we recommend Ingrown zone - this spot treatment has Vit. A, Allantoin and Witch Hazel which helps soothe inflammation and swelling of the hair follicle, associated with hair removal. Also contains, glycolic acid which weakens the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together, allowing the outer skin to "dissolve", freeing the trapped hair.
Hydration of your skin assists with prevention of ingrown hairs and a more comfortable wax with future treatments. Try Thalgo Plasmalg Gelor Marine Shower Gel as a body cleanser followed with Thalgo Soft Hydrating Emulsion.
To make the most of your waxing treatment it is important to maintain some sort of cycle by waxing every 4 - 6 weeks. Hairs renew themselves within this time and having irregular waxing treatments means you may have shorter hairs shooting through in-between.
Thalgo have developed a gentle and efficient intensive treatment to gradually decrease the frequency of your waxing sessions by slowing down the growth of your hair.
Biodepyl Concentrate combines a plant based extract with essential oils to retard and lessen hair growth, reduce hair density, lighten hair pigment, soothe and calm irritation induced by hair removal, as well as prevent ingrown hairs and rehydrate the epidermal layers of the skin.
The Biodepyl Concentrate is used for only the first 3 days after waxing, while the follicle is still exposed, making it a cost effective ($2.50 per month!) and efficient post-waxing treatment.
